WALKERTOWN - Mrs. Shelby June Saye Roddy, 74, went home to be with her Lord Sunday, August 26, 2012 at her residence. Shelby was born April 14, 1938 in Richmond County, GA to the late George and Elsie Pageant Saye. She was a member of Sunlight Baptist Church and was a loving mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents, Shelby was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Buddy Roddy, Jr.; three sons, Carl Gene, David W. and Richard W. Roddy; and one grandchild, Justin Autry. Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Hemrick and April Whitaker; one son, Preston Neal Roddy; ten grandchildren, Dreama, David Jr., Michael, Valerie and Kelly Roddy, Kimberly Pinnix, Kasey Causey, Brandon Autry, Brittany and Stephen Hemrick; and 11 great grandchildren, Payton, Logan, Ethan, Chloe, Austin, Camden, Bryson, J.C., Anna, Rachel and Braelynn. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. David Neese and Rev. Don Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Gur Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. The family would like to extend their thanks to a 'special angel', Mary Motter, CNA with Hospice, whom Shelby loved.
