Shelby Jean Wiles Nelson

KERNERSVILLE, NC-Mrs. Shelby Jean Wiles Nelson, 73, of Kernersville, NC, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Alston Brook Nursing Home in Lexington, NC. Mrs. Nelson was born on September 23, 1939 in Wilkes County, NC to Corbet Alton Wiles and Fannie Mae Walker Wiles. She retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company where she worked as a packing operator. Shelby enjoyed reading and was known for her beautiful smile by all her friends and family. She always put her family first and had a deep and everlasting love for each one of them. Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin Ray Nelson; one daughter, Tonya Carlton Thorpe; her parents and one brother, Melvin Wiles. Mrs. Nelson is survived by her son, Ryan Nelson of Kernersville, NC; three daughters, Amber Nelson Kistler (Jamie) of Burlington, NC, Karen Carlton of Lexington, NC, and Angela Wilson (Darrell) of Lexington, NC; Shelby's second mother, Margaret Wiles of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren, Bryce Ray Nelson, Averi Rae Kistler, Joseph Weavil (Jodie), and Jacob Weavil; one great-grandson, Joseph Cale Weavil; one brother, Michael Wiles (Sharon) of Clemmons, NC and one sister, Gale Wiles of Winston-Salem. Funeral services for Mrs. Nelson will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Jeff Perdue officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
