Mr. Shelby Wilborn Hill, age 84, passed away, Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. He was born September 29, 1930 in Surry County to his late parents, Samuel and Ola Hill. Shelby proudly served his country for 20 years in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era. He retired as a Recruiter. He was an avid pool player, traveling to many parts of the country to compete in tournaments and won many of the tournaments he competed in. Shelby was a dedicated Christian throughout his life and was a charter member of Pineview Baptist Church in Goldsboro, NC. After moving to Graham, he became a member of Hico Baptist Church, and was a faithful member until his sickness. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a friend to many people. The impact he made on peoples' lives will dearly be missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Joe Scales, David Hill; one sister, Kapie (Scales) Minton. He is survived by his wife of three years, Katherine Crouse Hill; daughter, Linda Cottrell of Winston-Salem; son, Skip (Sharon) Hill of Yadkinville; one sister, Sheila Martin of Kernersville; three grand-daughters, Sheena Hill of Raleigh, Summer (Hill) Kramer of Las Vegas, Savannah Hill of Yadkinville; step daughter, Tina Crouse Snow of Haw River; four step grandchildren, Nathan Crouse, Rebekah Crouse, Shayna (Snow) Hinshaw, Jennifer Snow, in addition to several nieces and nephews and extended family. A funeral service will be conducted 1:00 PM Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall with Rev. David Mros officiating. Interment will follow at Skyline Memorial Gardens, 432 Old Buck Shoals Rd, Mt. Airy, NC 27030. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, you may make a memorial to Winston-Salem Rescue Mission, 781 Trade Street, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27101. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
