Shelby Dickey Fulk

Ms. Shelby Dickey Fulk, 76, passed away peacefully Monday, May 23, 2016 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, NC. Shelby was born in Forsyth County, NC June 1, 1939 to Clyde and Kathleen Agnes Dickey. Preceding her in death were her parents, her twin sister Shirley Lawson, her sister Nancy Whitaker, her brother Clyde Dickey, Jr., and her son John Franklin Fulk, III. She is survived by her brother Larry James Dickey and his wife, Judy of Okeechobee, Florida, her sister Lisa Maddie and her husband Kerry of Plant City, Florida, her daughter Tammy Fulk and her husband Jerry of Clemmons, her son Terry Fulk and his wife Lisa of Advance, her daughter Kristina Eddinger and her husband Dimey of Mocksville, John Franklin Fulk, Jr. of Winston-Salem whom she was married to for over 50 years, 10 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Shelby was a member of Friedberg Moravian Church in Winston-Salem. She also belonged to the Family Fraternity Moose Lodge 466/WOTM in Winston-Salem. She loved to volunteer including being a cheerleading coach for the Tiny Greyhounds. In 1993, she retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco after working there for 18 years. Shelby always enjoyed spending time with family. She loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart and soul whether she was rocking them as babies, teaching them to swim, playing cards, or fixing their favorite meal - roast, homemade creamed potatoes and pound cake. But most importantly, she taught them how to love one another. Jesus said in John 13:34, ""A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another."" Luke 6:31 says, ""Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."" Shelby understood the importance of respecting one another and forgiving others, and she never missed an opportunity to say, ""I love you."" A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, May 25 at 2 pm at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Susan Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:45 am to 1:45 pm prior to the service May 25 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
