Sheila Kennedy Barrett

Oak Ridge- Sheila Frances Kennedy Barrett, 56, passed away December 1, 2014. She was born April 21, 1958 in Norwood, MA to the late John William Kennedy, Jr. and Virginia Frances Shay Kennedy.

Although originally born in Norwood, MA, Sheila lived most of her young and adult life in Bethesda, MD. She was employed with the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda MD as an Administrative Officer, and retired after 33 years of service in May of 2013. Sheila loved to travel, cruises to any warm destination being her favorite of travel plans. She enjoyed reading, visiting wineries, and especially baking with her granddaughter.

Sheila had a passion for people and a soul built for servitude. She was naturally accommodating, nurturing, caring, and hospitable. She leaves behind a husband, a son, daughter, and grandchildren who knew these qualities first hand. Although she enjoyed her professional life and the extended family she gained from it, she looked forward to retirement and the days ahead. Upon retirement she and her husband Tom moved their lives south to Oak Ridge, NC to be closer to their grandchildren. She enjoyed immersing herself in their activities, football games and cheerleading, birthday parties, and especially the quiet times spent with them coloring, cooking, and everything else special in between.


In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, John William Kennedy, III

Surviving are her husband, Thomas Barrett of the home; son, Eric Bouvet and wife, Kellie of Oak Ridge; and two grandchildren, Colin and Morgan Bouvet.

Family and Friends will gather Monday December 8, 2014 for a graveside service
and celebration of her life. The service will be held at 10 AM at the address below:
