Sharon Wood Smith

Kernersville – Mrs. Sharon Wood Smith, 68, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Kernersville Medical Center. She was born in Forsyth County on September 9, 1956. Sharon was a breast cancer survivor and a courageous fighter. She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her family. She loved apples, peanut butter, and coffee. She could have lived off of those three things. Sharon also loved kids, especially all of her grandbabies. She was a devoted wife of 45 years as well as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be deeply missed. 

In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by her daughter, Christina Smith; and her brother, Bucky Wood.

She is survived by her loving husband, Philip Smith; daughter, Jill Ogburn (husband, Jeff); son, Phil Smith; six grandchildren, Paige, Luke, Katlyn, Katie, Valarie, and Reagan; nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Vicky Williams (husband, Vernon) and Karen Lathum (husband, Tim); and two brothers, David Wood (wife, Teresa) and Mark Wood. She was also loved by many nieces and nephews. 

The family would like to express their gratitude to all of the doctors and nurses for such excellent care for Sharon during her time of need. 

A funeral service for Sharon will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Pastor Sandra Bovender officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
