Sharon Kay Logan

Sharon K. Logan, 67, of Advance, North Carolina, and formally of Aberdeen, South Dakota, Wichita Kansas, Lakin, Kansas, passed away on June7, 2012 at Wake Forest University Baptist Health in Winston Salem North Carolina, after a two year battle with cancer. Sharon was born on January 19, 1945 in Chautauqua, Kansas the daughter of Charles and Ruby Friend. On April 20, 1962 in Raton New Mexico she married Dennis Lee Logan. When Sharon's duties as a Mother and Housewife began to slow down she devoted her time to volunteer organizations. She was active as a hospital volunteer and enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels, where she touched many wonderful souls. Sharon loved spending time with her grandchildren: Jason, Michael and Mathew. It didn't matter what activity they were doing, from sitting in front of the television to spending a week at Disney World her face was always softer, her eyes always sparkled extra when she was with them. The best of her are in each one of them. This was evident to anyone watching them interact with their grandma, especially, during the last year of her life. Uncle (Roy), Father (Chub), Mother-in-law (Ruth), and her Mother (Ruby), became Sharon's next passion as she spent countless hours caring for those she loved. Sharon enjoyed the many sights she saw while traveling the states. Sharon enjoyed fishing, which often involved camping (as long as it wasn't raining or snowing), Sharon also enjoyed hunting……for furniture. But most of all Sharon enjoyed time with the family she so loved. Sharon is survived by her loving husband of fifty years, Dennis Logan. Surviving Children are Cary (Leisa) Logan, their children Jason (Andrea) Logan and great-grandchild Zoe Logan; Michael Logan; Christina Logan and her son Mathew Logan (partner, Caitlyn Thomas); and one brother, Neil (Mayola) Friend as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and Friends and her loving boxer Sadie. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Friend. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00p.m. On Tuesday June 12, 2012 at Garnand Funeral Home in Lakin, Kansas. The memorial service will be held at 10:30a.m.Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at the same Garnand Funeral Home with Neil Friend officiating. Interment will follow in the Lakin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the charity of your choice. The family would like to express their greatest appreciation to the staff at Wake Forest Hospital Palliative Care Unit for their kindness, during the most difficult of times. Six days prior to Sharon passing she became a great grandmother, for the first time when Jason and Andrea gave birth to the daughter Zoe Ann. Sharon now joins her Savior Jesus Christ, her spirit will be with us always, we love her and will miss her.
