Sharon Lee Bodenhamer, 71, joined the Lord on Saturday, October 22, 2022, in Watauga County. Sharon was born to the late Randle and Bessie Duggins Bodenhamer on December 15, 1950, in Forsyth County. Sharon grew up in Kernersville and was a member of Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She was a member of Eastern Stars for more than 25 years for Wilmington and Pilot Mountain Chapter. Sharon drove the school buses for Forsyth and Surry County schools. She raised her children in Shoals where she took pride in her holiday decorating and inspired others to “get in the spirit” no matter what time of year. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she showed her love by being their biggest cheerleader no matter the occasion-- in band, swimming, cheerleading, and other sports. She was the winning coach of the Clan Campbell tug-of-war team, and nothing excited Sharon more than watching Spence and her grandson’s wrestle. You could always find Sharon in the kitchen cooking and cake decorating. She also had a passion for crafting and gardening. Sharon’s favorite pastime was reading the Bible, she read it front to back twice. She had a huge heart and was a joy to those around her and will be missed by many.
As well as her parents, Sharon is preceded in death by her brother, RJ Bodenhamer.
To carry on her memory are her three children, Spencer Dean Garrison, William Heath Garrison, and Dana Lee Sechrist; four grandchildren, Katarina Sechrist, Tristen Sechrist, Randle Colton Collins, and Ayilan Garrison; two brothers, Louie Bodenhamer and Charles “Peewee” Bodenhamer; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Sharon will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Pastor Kevin Masters and Pastor Steven Wriston officiating. Interment will follow in Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 11:00 AM-12:45 PM at the funeral home prior to the service.
