Sharon Bates

Colfax- Mrs. Sharon Kay Tucker Bates, 69, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at her residence. She was born November 8, 1952, in Guilford County, the daughter of Robert Hoover Tucker. She attended Union Grove Baptist Church in Oak Ridge and was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church in Walkertown. She was a homemaker who loved flowers, gardening, watching hummingbirds, loved to cook, and enjoyed country music. She was a lovable person and was a friend to all that knew her. Sharon especially loved her grandson, Ashton. She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Robert Lee Tucker. Survivors include her husband, Eddie Wayne Bates, Sr.; her two sons, Eddie Wayne Bates, Jr. of Greensboro, and Clinton Lee Bates of Colfax; a grandson, Ashton Bates of Greensboro and three sisters, Robin Craig, Joyce Haines, and Becky Bryant. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Pastor Steve Roberson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memo ry.
