Shannon Clare Buckner

Shannon Clare Buckner passed away on February 3, 2016 at Catawba Regional Hospice Home of Newton. She was born on April 9, 1986 to Timothy D. Buckner and Karen Jones Widener. Shannon earned her GED at AB Technical Community College in Asheville, NC. She was an aspiring speech therapist. Her family will remember her loving disposition and her ability to inspire others. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, H.D. Buckner and R. Shelton Jones. Surviving are her mother; Karen Jones Widener (husband John) of Connelly Springs, NC; father, Timothy Buckner (wife Kimberly) of Weaverville, NC; siblings, Gilbert Gonzalez, Frank Gonzalez, and Carlie Kowalk; grandmothers, Jane Buckner, Daphne Jones, and Rachel Hale; uncles, Brent Buckner, Chris Exline, Clyde Blackburn, Chuck Swepston, Steve Widener, and Ronnie Rothrock Sr.; aunts, Susan Exline, Toni Blackburn, Paula Widener, and Anne Jones; nieces, Samantha Arriaga, Bela Thomas, and Sophia Thomas; cousins, Allen Exline, William Exline, Perry Exline, Dustin Rothrock, Daniel Rothrock, Charlie Swepston, Jordan Meyer, Laura Exline, Sarah Widener, Alex Widener, Adrienne Widener, and Ronnie Rothrock Jr.; one great-niece; and four great-nephews. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Sharon United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, February 5, 2016 at Sharon United Methodist Church.
