Selvey Johnson Boyer

Mrs. Selvey Johnson Boyer, 73, of Winston-Salem, passed away Friday, August 27, 2010 at Mallard Ridge Assisted Living in Clemmons. She was born October 5, 1936 in Forsyth County to Alvin James and Isabell Sink Johnson. Mrs. Boyer was a member of New Philadelphia Moravian Church for many years. After graduating from Pheiffer University, she went on to earn a Masters degree in speech and dramatics. She also obtained a Masters degree in education from Appalachian State University. She taught for over 36 years in the Forsyth County School System at Griffith and Parkland high schools. She loved gardening, reading, traveling and antiques. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Doug Boyer. Surviving is her brother, Alvin J. Johnson, Jr. and wife Pat of Winston-Salem; a niece, Julie Johnson of Midway; two step-daughters, Christine Yarbrough and husband Buster of Winston-Salem, Roberta Sweigart and husband Dave of Gilbert, AZ; three step-grandchildren, William and Jonathan Sweigart of Gilbert, AZ, David Yarbrough of Winston-Salem. A funeral service will be conducted 4:00PM Monday, August 30, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Dr. Worth Green officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends following the service.
