Scott Allen Choplin

Mr. Scott Allen Choplin, 47, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2015, at his home. Scott was born on December 3, 1968, in Forsyth County to Charles Edward and Barbara Bowen Choplin. He was a graduate of North Davidson High School and attended the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Scott attended Randolph Community College where he completed EMT-Paramedic training. He also completed Basic Law Enforcement Training in 2012 at Davidson County Community College. Some of Scott's accomplishments include an Eagle Scout Award and he placed 2nd in the North Carolina Wrestling Tournament. Scott was a Black Belt in Karate and enjoyed teaching martial arts. He was an entrepreneur and loved finding new ventures. Scott loved to read and owned hundreds of books. He also loved writing and was an eloquent writer. Scott was of the Baptist faith and was baptized on April 24, 1983, by Pastor Ed Sears at Grace Baptist Temple. In addition to his father, Scott was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred and Margaret Myers Bowen and Wesley and Irene Choplin. He is survived by his mother, Barbara Choplin-Hubbard and step-father Don of Rural Hall; a sister, Jennifer Paige Thomas and husband Samuel of Lexington; a niece, Abigail ""Abby"" Paige Thomas; a special aunt, Debbie Billings of Winston-Salem; and a special cousin, Crystal Billings Locklear of Pfafftown. A memorial service for Scott will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Scott Flowe officiating. Inurnment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home.
