Schuyler Day

KERNERSVILLE-Schuyler Day, 71, passed away Monday, October 19, 2009 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He was born May 21, 1938 in Leslie Co., Kentucky to the late Rusey and Clara Williams Day. Mr. Day was a member and a deacon of First Baptist Church in Kernersville, where he had taught adult and youth Sunday school classes. He served on several different committees, the most recent was the Family Promise committee. Mr. Day served in the United States Army and was employed by Piedmont Airlines in 1963 and retired in 1993 after the merger with US Airways. He enjoyed gardening and fishing, and was an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Talbot Adam Day. Surviving are his wife, Ernestine Williams Day of the home; his son, Patrick Todd Day and wife Mary of Charlotte; a step-granddaughter, Jamie Nicole Miller of Charlotte; one brother, James Day and wife Linda of Okeechobee, FL; one sister, Janneth Wells of Smilax, KY; one brother in-law, Lonnie Williams and wife Janie of Colleyville, TX; and seven nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am Thursday, October 22, 2009 at First Baptist Church in Kernersville with Dr. Stephen Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 9-10:30 am Thursday, October 22, 2009 at the church. Memorials may be made to either First Baptist Church, 401 Oakhurst St., Kernersville, NC 27284; Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 5950 Fairview Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210-3104 or the American Cancer Society, 4-A Branch Dr., Greensboro, NC 27407.
