Mrs. Savannah Cook Welborn Hemrick, 91, passed away peacefully at home on April 9, 2016 after about a three month illness. She was the youngest and last survivor of the Cook family. Savannah was a member of Quaker Gap Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School. She graduated from Hanes high School. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Nellie Cook; her first husband, Garvey Welborn; four sisters: Cora Cranfill, Lilly Fordham, Francis Stowe, Mary Sechrist; two brothers, Arvil ""Hobb"" Cook and Arthur ""Brother"" Cook. Savannah is survived by her daughter, Wanda Thompson (Joe); two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her loving husband of 13 years, John Henry Hemrick, III; step-son, Kurt Hemrick; and two step-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and two very special friends who were great friends, Judy Norman and Carol Duncan. A graveside service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 12 at Crestview Memorial Park with Pastor John C. ""Jack"" Darida officiating. It would have been her 13th anniversary. There will be no formal visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Mountain Valley Hospice, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt.
