Mrs. Sari Ann Swaim Sides, age 76, widow of the late Billy Gray Sides, passed away on Wednesday morning, January 13, 2010 at her home. Mrs. Sides was born in Winston-Salem, NC on April 3, 1933 to the late James and Elizabeth Swaim. Mrs. Sides was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and was a member of Hope Moravian Church. Mrs. Sides is survived by two daughters, Karen Gilbert, Joni Charles and husband Terry all of Winston-Salem; eight grandchildren which include one very loved and devoted grandson, Jerry Makas and wife Shelia, seven granddaughters Lisa Jenkins, Karla Makas, Andria Luper, Melanie Gilbert, Amanda Hazelwood, Beth Gilbert and Kathryn Charles; 14 great grandchildren including great grandsons Jerry Makas, Jr., Daniel Luper, Cole Luper, David Luper, Christian Luper, Landon Lilly, and Isaiah Allen; great granddaughters Brooke Makas, Alexis Holmes, Kelci Hazelwood, Alicia Allen, twins Constance and Carmahn Jackson, and Mckenzie Weidl. Mrs. Sides is also survived by her loving brother Donald Swaim, and wife Gretchen; one nephew, Trent Swaim and wife April, and three nieces, Traci Dinsbeer and husband Daniel, Tandi Castor and husband Dean, Tori Swaim and husband Jack. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 pm Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Hope Moravian Church with the Rev. David Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Friday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel.
