Sarah “Bootsie” Frances Haymore Hertweck was born on September 29, 1934, to Harold and Mabel Haymore in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and she was welcomed into Heaven on February 6, 2022. Bootsie attended Hanes High School, graduating in 1952. She was married shortly after and had two sons, Michael and Keith Long. After being single for twelve years, she married Neal Hertweck in 1992 and together they have four children, six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Bootsie and Neal lived in Winston-Salem for four years and then moved to Lake Norman where they resided for twenty years. They spent many days on Lake Norman enjoying boating, swimming, and riding jet skis with each other and their family. While living at Lake Norman, Bootsie was very active at Berea Baptist Church in Mooresville, where she volunteered her time and her amazing cooking skills weekly. Bootsie and Neal moved to Suwannee, Georgia in 2017 to be closer to their family. Bootsie was preceded in death by her parents, Mabel Thomas and Roscoe Harold Haymore; and her siblings, Jack Thomas, Georgia Steelman, Nancy Hague, and Thomas “Bubba” Haymore. A service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with Rev. Ralph Sparrow officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Bootsie will be laid to rest immediately following the service at Forsyth Memorial Park.
