Sarah Williams White

Mrs. Sarah Williams White, 95, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Vienna Village in Pfafftown. She was born June 4, 1918 in Davie Co. the daughter of the late Frederick Eugene Williams and Nancy Alexander Williams. Mrs. White was a charter member of New Hope Baptist Church and joined Becks Baptist Church in 1953 where she was an active member as long as her health permitted. She could always be found in the nursery at Becks rocking the babies. In 1973 her husband, Leonard M. White, Sr. retired and they moved to Florida until their return in 1988. She was an avid Bridge player for most of her life and loved to play Bingo and Rook with her friends at Vienna Village. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard M. White, Sr., a son, James W. White, Sr., a grandson, Leonard ""Len"" M. White III and all six of her siblings. Mrs. White is survived by a daughter, Nancy Swartzel (Marvin) of Winston-Salem, a son, Leonard M. ""Mack"" White, Jr. (Sandra) of King, a daughter-in-law, Pat White of Myrtle Beach, six grandsons, Jim W. White, Jr. (Cindy), Jeff W. White, David M. White (Shelley), Richard A. Swartzel (Debbie), Matthew C. White (Erica) and Andy R. Swartzel (Jennifer) and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2014 at Becks Baptist Church in Winston-Salem with Dr. Karl Minor officiating. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Becks Baptist Church, 5505 Becks Church Rd. The family would like to thank the owners and staff of Vienna Village for the wonderful and loving care that was shown to their mother during the time she was there.
