Sarah Tilley Vernon

Winston-Salem - Sarah Tilley Vernon, 96, passed away Monday, August 18, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born July 29, 1912 in Rockingham Co. to the late James and Minnie Shelton Tilley. Sarah truly loved and was very dedicated to her family. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Oliver Vernon; and a son, Glenn Vernon. Surviving are two daughters, Clementine Lunsford of Winston-Salem; and Louise Hester and husband C.F. of Kernersville; three sons, James O. Vernon of Winston-Salem, Alden W. Vernon and wife Jean, and Tony P. Vernon all of Kernersville; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at Hayworth Miller Cain Funeral Home in Kernersville with Dr. Virgil Chitty officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Gur Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 pm Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Alden W. Vernon, 2231 Dean Rd., Kernersville, NC
