Sarah Gwendolyn 'Gwen' Spencer

Ms. Sarah Gwendolyn ""Gwen"" Spencer, age 58 passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Gwen was born in Patrick County, VA January 10, 1955 to W.T. and Sarah Ellen Oakley Spencer. She was a member of Fulp Moravian Church in Walnut Cove and retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. Gwen was preceded in death by her father, W.T. Spencer and one brother, Dwight Spencer. Ms. Spencer is survived by her daughter, Elisha (Michael) Whicker of Winston-Salem and granddaughter, Callie Arin Whicker. Her mother, Ellen Spencer of Walnut Cove and two brothers: Anthony (Elaine) Spencer of Reidsville and Phillip Spencer of Mt. Airy. One sister-in-law, Vickie Spencer of High Point. Several nieces and nephews. A special great-nephew, Caleb Spencer. A graveside service will be held Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Fulp Moravian Graveyard in Walnut Cove by Rev. Dan Nelson. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the graveside service. Memorials may be made to Fulp Moravian Church, 1556 US 311 Highway South, Walnut Cove, 27052.
