Sarah Long Spach

Mocksville- Mrs. Sarah Long Spach, 93, passed away October 14, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was raised in the Hopewell Community, the oldest daughter of Frank E. and Ida Sink Long. She married Sanford C. Spach, her husband of 54 years, on December 24, 1938. The mother of six boys and a farmer's wife. She attended school at Hopewell, New Eden, and Griffith. Mrs. Spach joined Hebron Reformed Church where her grandfather was a preacher. She later joined Farmington United Methodist Church after her family moved to Farmington. She was a hard worker and a wonderful cook. She always had room for one or two more at her table. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, three sons, Donald G. Spach, Terry E. Spach, and R. Franklin Spach, and her sister, Ila Long Whitt. She is survived by her sons, Wade C. Spach (Gayle), Dwight W. Spach, and Edwin L. Spach (Angela); six grandchildren, Max W. Spach, Stephen A. Spach (Angela), Sonya S. Grier (Marty), Brian L. Spach (Kathryn), Melinda S. Ladd (Jason), and Melissa A. Spach; six great-grandchildren, Alex C. Spach, Ryan H. Spach, Zach E. Spach, Kaitlyn L. Spach, Madison D. Spach, and Justin W. Ladd; step-great-grandchildren, Colby Grier of Boone and Cammy Grier of Indian Trail. brother, Wilburn E. Long (Edith) of Statesville; a sister, Virginia Mendenhall of Midway. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Monday, October 17, 2011 at Farmington United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sara Scruggs officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00pm until 7:00pm on Sunday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel in Advance.
