Sarah Setliff Roberts

Mrs. Sarah Setliff Roberts, 94, peacefully entered the presence of her Savior on Thursday, December 19, 2024, in Hickory, N.C. She was born in Stokes County on March 29, 1930, to the late Hunter and Wilma Setliff. Sarah graduated from Pinnacle High School in 1947 where she enjoyed playing basketball; and from Draughon’s Business College in 1948. She retired in 1986 from the Veteran’s Administration with 37 years of service. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. Those who knew her as “Grandma” or “Aunt Sarah” will cherish the memories of her welcoming home and bountiful table. She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Robert Joseph (R.J.) Roberts, in 1981. Mrs. Roberts is survived by two children: Deborah Roberts Reece (Bobby-deceased) and Jerry Wayne Roberts (Kaye); five grandchildren: Andrew (Katie) Reece, Rebekah (Alex) Mitchell, Seth (Jacqueline) Roberts, Noah (Darbey) Roberts, and Shelley (Elliott) Kelley; five great-granddaughters: Eva, Amelia, and Elainna Reece, Charlotte Mitchell, and Hayden Roberts; her brother, Dennis Setliff (Kathy); niece Lt Col Kristin Banjo (Leo and children) and nephew Patrick Setliff. The family will receive friends Monday, December 23, 2024, from 12:30-1:45 pm at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall with the service to follow at 2:00 pm conducted by Pastor Scott Hooks of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Hickory and Rev. Brian Alverson of Bethany Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. We would like to thank the pastoral staff and members of Tabernacle Baptist Church for their prayers, visits, and ministry to “Grandma” since she moved to Hickory in 2021. We are extremely grateful for the professional and compassionate care received at Catawba Valley Medical Center during her last days.
