OGBURN -WINSTON-SALEM Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Massey Ogburn, 91, passed away Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Springwood Care Center. She was born August 1, 1918 in Guilford County to the late David Henry Massey and Mary Taylor Massey. Mrs. Ogburn was the oldest member of Hickory Ridge United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ogburn was preceded in death by husband, Emmet Masten ""Dick"" Ogburn Sr.; one son, Wayne Ogburn; and one grandson, Gerald Overton. Surviving are one daughter, Sara Overton and husband, Robert of Rural Hall; two sons, Emmet M. ""Sonny"" Ogburn of Garland, TX and John Ogburn and wife, Janet of Walkertown; a daughter-in-law, Corrine Scott of Winston-Salem; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday, March 27 at Hickory Ridge United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Mary S. Lautensleger and the Rev. Larry Neal officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, March 26 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hickory Ridge United Methodist Church, Perpetual Care Fund. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the employees at Springwood Care for the exceptional care given to Mrs. Ogburn.
