LINVILLE Sarah Nell Goff Linville died at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center on Sunday, December 4, 2011. A long-time resident of Brookridge Retirement Community in Winston Salem, she formerly lived at 1915 Butler Street. Mrs. Linville was born in Enterprise, Alabama to Ola Mae Engram Goff and John Wesley Goff on June 15, 1914. One of seven children, she attended Enterprise schools and the Alabama State College for Women. Prior to her marriage she taught third grade. On June 15, 1942, she married Joseph Dwight Linville in Gulfport, MS. He died in November, 1993. She was also predeceased by a triplet son, Jerry Stokes Linville. Surviving are daughters, Linda Linville McCoy (David) of High Point, NC; Jenny Linville Fulwiler (Howard) of Charleston, SC; sons, Joe W. Linville (Sharron) of Winston Salem, and John W. Linville of Independence Group Home in Winston Salem; five grandchildren, Shannon McCoy, Kristen McCoy Hoskins, William Fulwiler, Anne Fulwiler Kerr, and Joy Linville White; three great-granddaughters, and two sisters-in law, Doris Linville Sale and Virginia Linville Morgan. Mrs. Linville was a member of First United Church of Christ and a former member of the Broadbay Extension Homemakers Club and the YWCA. She retired in 1971 from McLean Trucking Company. Though not professionally trained, she loved to play the piano, giving the most subdued song a toe-tapping beat.
