Sarah Catherine Myers Klutz

Sarah Catherine Myers Klutz, 91, passed away on September 7, 2012, in Burgaw, North Carolina at Huntington Healthcare. She was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on August 20, 1921, the daughter of the late Ralph Bernard and Sarah Catherine Shouse Myers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Daywalt Kluttz, to whom she was married from March 23, 1940 until his death on August 7, 1998. They lived in Mt Airy, NC for 42 of those years. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Louise Myers Davis and her husband John E Davis, and her brother, Ralph Agnew Myers and his wife Dorothy Myers. Surviving is a daughter and her husband, Tanya Lee Kluttz Puckett and Harry Franklin Puckett of Burgaw, NC; a grandson, H. Frank Puckett II, of Burgaw, NC; a granddaughter, Melissa A Puckett Miller and Husband Dale Miller, of Watha, NC; three great grandchildren, Olivia, Cassidy, and Brice; a number of very special nieces and nephews; three sisters-in-law, Dot Hodges, Ester George, and Helen Cheek and a brother-in law and his wife, Daniel and Joan Klutz; and numbers of friends that she made family. Sarah was a professional homemaker that loved her family and friends. She loved life, and was always amazed by the living of it. She loved cooking(best potato salad, clam chowder, and cornbread sticks in the world); entertaining; gardening(both flowers and vegetables); music(from classical to beach music); art; collecting antiques and furniture; travel(she prayed over her geography book in 4th grade that God would let her see all those places and He did); Sunset Harbor and family there; boats and fishing; picnics; Florida (living in Orange Park on the Saint Johns River, fishing in Sarasota during Christmas Holidays, tenting at Key West, or sleeping in the car at Cape Canaveral with grandchildren to watch the space ship launch); the Lord and Her Church,( Advent Moravian Church in Winston-Salem, Grace Moravian Church in Mt Airy, and Home Moravian Church in Salem( and her family's history there)). She and Lee were sojourners of the world, and loved and enjoyed everyone they met; but Winston-Salem was always home. We will miss Sarah's strength, her determination, and laughter. The family would like to thank the family and friends that made it possible for her to live at home as long as she could. We also thank the staff and friends of Huntington Healthcare for their loving care of Mother and us the years she was there. We also want to thank Hospice of the Lower Cape Fear for their loving care. Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, September 10, 2012 at Advent Moravian Church with Rev. Keith White officiating.
