Sarah Mabe Johnson

Mrs. Sarah Mabe Johnson, 84, passed away Thursday July 9, 2009, at Oak Forest Health & Rehab Center. Sarah was born in Forsyth County on July 12, 1924 to the late Lindsay and Minnie Lee Mabe. She was a member of Immanuel New Eden Moravian Church, and retired from Hanes Hosiery with thirty-three years of service. Sarah is preceded in death by her husband Roy Elmer Johnson. She is survived by her two daughters Ann New and husband Harry; and Dorothy Houslander and husband Barry, of Castle Rock, CO; a son Joe Mabe and wife Jackie of East Berlin, PA; seven grandchildren Pam Vest, Sherri DeVoto, Dwayne Mabe, Avery Mabe Jr, Wendy Mullins, Hope Miller, and Dani Kushla; and 19 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great grandchildren. The funeral service will be at 3:00 PM on Sunday July 12, 2009, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. G. Thomas Shelton and Rev. Walter Bishop officiating. A visitation will be held the night before on Saturday July 11, from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
