Mrs. Sarah Frances Long Higgins, 95, also known as ""Coonie"", passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born January 4, 1921 the youngest child of William Arnie Long and Anna Kate Davis Long in the small community of Dozier. Mrs. Higgins was the oldest member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William B. ""Buddy""Higgins, Jr. and her siblings, Mabel Spainhour (Judson), Evelyn Spainhour (Bill), Helen Wall (Ray), Margaret Long (Spencer), Ruby Long (Blaine), Mozelle Elmore (E.G.) and T.D. Long (Virginia).
She is survived by her children, Ann Shore (Thomas W.) and William B. ""Bill"" Higgins, III (Darlene), her grandchildren, Randy Shore (Robyn) and Angie Austin (Ken), her great-grandchildren, Ryan and Makayla Shore and Olivia, Landon, Farrah Funderburk, a step great-grandson, Clinton Patterson and many nieces and nephews. Services for Mrs. Higgins will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall with Rev. Jeff Hamrick officiating. She will be buried in Forsyth Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 4691 Vienna-Dozier Rd., Pfafftown, NC 27040. The family would like to extend a special appreciation to the wonderful staff of Member Care Unit at Southfork Senior Living for the love and kindness shown to Mrs. Higgins and her family.
