Mrs. Sarah Lou Hiatt Dawson, age 67 of Winston-Salem passed away Sunday, January 17, 2010 at her home. Mrs. Dawson was born July 16, 1942 in Surry County to the late Lounie Elmer and the late Sarah Frances Terrell Hiatt. Sarah retired from Pell Care Nursing Home in Walkertown. In addition to her parents Sarah was preceded in death by her husbands James Dawson and Robert Gaddy. Five sisters and one brother. Surviving are her three daughters: Betty Haynes of Winston-Salem, Janet Lawson of Beulah, NC and Tammy (Larue) Fields of Winston-Salem. Two sons: Bobby Dawson and Michael (Suzanne) Key both of Mt. Airy. Ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Four sisters: Margaret Frazier, Rumell Humphries, Roberta Whitaker, and Rowana (Doug) Johnson all of Mt. Airy. Four brothers: Clyde (Jerie) Hiatt, Lionel (Becky) Hiatt both of Mt. Airy and James (Pamela) Hiatt of Atlanta GA. and Calvin (Peggy) Hiatt of Canada. Several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 P.M. at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home Chapel in Rural Hall by Rev. Keith Cox and Speaker David Culler. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening January 19, 2010 from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Forsyth County for all the support and help the provided during Mrs. Dawson illness.
