Sarah Phelps Davis

Mrs. Sarah Phelps Davis, 86, of Lewisville, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017 at her home. She was born January 28, 1931 in Forsyth County to Lillie Mae Black Phelps and James L. Phelps. Mrs. Davis was a member of Green Meadows Baptist Church of Mocksville, NC. She worked many years for Royal Cake Company and then went to work for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, where she later retired after 33 years of service. She was preceded in death by her faithful husband of 49 years, Luther R. Davis, Sr.; one sister and two brothers. Surviving are her daughter, Patsy Williams (Gary) of Galax, VA; three sons, Homer Gough, Jr. (Jennifer) of Lewisville, Ronnie Davis (Donna) of Advance and James Davis (Anita) of King; twelve grandchildren, Tammy Shively (Richard), Carl Williams (Dawn), Joey Williams (Valerie), Jessica Gunter (Bill), Joshua Gough (Kristi), Tiffany, Travis, Luke and Krystal Davis and Zachary, Hannah and Kathryn Davis; ten great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; one brother, Roy Lee ""Dusty"" Phelps and her special dog, Ginger. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel with Pastor Josh Greene, Pastor Ronnie Comer and Pastor Gary Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family would like to recognize and thank various physicians and nurses along with the staff and administration at Trinity Elms in Clemmons and the special care given that comforted her.
