Mrs. Sarah Cook Collins, 81, of Clemmons passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Bermuda Commons Nursing and Rehab. She was born March 25, 1932 in Alamance County to Roy Knight and Mary James Cook. Mrs. Collins was a member of Clemmons United Methodist Church for more than 50 years where she was active with the United Methodist Women on a local and also a district level. She was a graduate of Appalachian State University and retired as a teacher from the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System. Mrs. Collins also was a charter member and past President of Alpha Delta Kappa International Teacher's Sorority. She was a member of the Hattie's Red Hat Society and a Docent for many years at the Reynolda House Museum of American Art. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Cook Jr. and Don Cook and a sister, Frances Cook. Surviving are her husband, John Collins; two sons, John Collins, Jr. and wife Jo of Madison, AL and Mark Collins and wife Kim of Dunwoody, GA; a brother, Bill Cook and wife Betty of Walterboro, SC and three grandchildren, Douglas, Rachel and Lauren Collins. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2013 at Clemmons United Methodist Church with a graveside service at 3:00 p.m. in Francisco Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Westfield, NC. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. Memorials may be made to Clemmons United Methodist Women, 3700 Clemmons Rd., Clemmons, NC 27012.
