Sarah Chapple Clayton

Sarah Chapple Clayton, 83, who resided in Ardmore most of her life, passed away peacefully Christmas morning at The Elms at Tanglewood. Mrs. Clayton was born in 1927 to the late G. A and Ellen Rose Chapple. Mrs. Clayton retired from Silas Creek Manor Nursing Home as a CNA and office assistant. She continued to work well past her retirement age because of her true servant's heart. Even during her declining health she never missed an opportunity to go to a family or friend event including a hayride at David and Lisa's farm, a wedding at the Dash Stadium, danced with Elvis at The Elms, and enjoyed meals and birthday events at her children's homes. She was a lifelong member of Augsburg Lutheran Church. Mrs. Clayton was the loving mother of four children Cathy (Billy) Revis, Frankie (Sharon) Clayton, David (Lisa) Clayton, who survive her, and Patricia Clayton who preceded her in death in 1989. Mrs. Clayton is survived by her grandchildren Katie Trabelsi, Andrea Hauser, Ashley Rice, Bridgette Acosta, Kasey Revis, Adam Clayton, and Benjamin Clayton and six great grandchildren. Dr. James Branch was part of her extended family and attended many of her special occasions. She was preceded in death by three sisters and six brothers who met her Christmas morning as she entered heaven. She is survived by a sister Helen (Jack) Matthews and a brother Richard (Louise) Chapple and a host of nieces and nephews who she treated just like her children. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday at Augsburg Lutheran Church with Rev. Shirley Harrison and Rev. Ed Troutman officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Dr. James Dilley who directed her care for 19 months, Miller Street Dialysis Center, Forsyth Medical Center 8th Floor Renal Unit, and the wonderful staff at The Elms at Tanglewood where Mom has lived since May. Many heartfelt thanks to the Elms staff for the loving care especially during her last days. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com
