Mrs. Sarah Smith Boyles, 73, of Lighthouse Point, FL passed into eternal light at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, NC on August 24, 2022 after a seven year battle with Vulva Cancer.
“Momma Sarah” as she was affectionately called by many, was known for her kindness and unconditional love.
Born the youngest of nine children to Herman and Lucille Meadows Smith on August 16, 1949 at the family tobacco farm in Stokes County, NC. In addition to her parents she is proceeded in death by her siblings James, John and Joe Smith, Martha Duggins and Minnie Ruth Lynch.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Ralph Dale Boyles of Germanton, NC. Daughter, Hannah Boyles (Matt Tatum) of Winston-Salem, NC. Son, Wade (Jeff) Boyles-Hays of Lighthouse Point, FL. Three grandchildren, A.J. (Kevyn) Bennett of Albemarle, NC, Haley Bennett of Dallas, TX and Toby Bennett of King, NC. One grand god-daughter Skye Harris of Winston-Salem. Two sisters; Mary Edith (Dean) Robertson and Judy (Mike) Kinney and one brother; David (Gloria) Smith all of King. A special niece Julie Smith Brown of Winston-Salem and a host of other special nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
Sarah retired from First Citizens Bank after 33 years. Upon retirement she spent her winters in Florida, where she loved the beach, and spent her summers in North Carolina.
For 52 years she was a faithful member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in King, NC where she sang in the choir for 42 years. In 2007 she left Mt. Olive following the removal of her son from membership. Over the past 15 years she was a dedicated member of Wake Forest Baptist Church in Winston-Salem and loved her church in Florida, The Sunshine Cathedral of Fort Lauderdale. She was a “PFLAG mom” for many years and championed equal rights for all. She believed wherever we are, God is and shared God’s Devine love to everyone.
Family visitation will be on Friday Sept 2 from 6 to 8pm at Hayworth Miller Funeral Home, 3315 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Hayworth Miller Silas Creek Chapel on Saturday Sept 3 at 4pm. The family will receive friends after the service in the Robert F. Miller Center. A graveside service will be held at Mount Olive Cemetery, 5413 NC Hwy 66 S. in King , NC at 7pm with burial at sunset. Rev. Dr. Robert Griffin and Rev. Rayce Lamb will be officiating.
