Samuel Blaine Pope

Mr. Samuel Blaine Pope, 89, passed away January 1, 2016 at his home. He was born March 20, 1926 in Forsyth County to the late Blaine Charles Pope and Minnie Snyder Pope. Mr. Pope was a graduate of Griffith School and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a founding member of Griffith Fire Department serving on the Board of Trustees and as Treasurer and Secretary. He retired from Western Electric with 35 years of service. He enjoyed farming, hunting and fishing. Mr. Pope is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Johnnie Kepley Pope; his children, Arnold Pope and wife Linda, Donna Marie Pope, and Michael Blaine Pope and wife Kim; five grandchildren, Melinda, Nicholas, Jennifer, Brent, and Courtney; six great-grandchildren, Bronson, Addyson, Wesson, Peyton, Tucker, and Grayson. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Jack Nance officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park with military honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Stephen Hux, Mrs. Teresa Perryman, and the staff of Advanced Home Care especially Michele Groneck, Sara Perkins, Sharon Barnett, and Jodie Abbott.
