Samuel 'Pete' Joyce

Mr. Samuel Pete Joyce, age 72 passed away Wednesday evening, January 18, 2012 surrounded by his loving family and friends at his home. Pete was born in Stokes County, September 1, 1939 to Simon Peter and Angie Odell Lawson Joyce. He was a member and elder of Asbury Presbyterian Church in Westfield. Pete enjoyed hard work, he loved raising his cattle and growing tobacco. He also enjoyed the beach, fishing and going to and having cookouts for all his friends and buddies. In addition to his parents Pete was preceded in death by two brothers; Jack Leon Joyce and Larry Allen Joyce. Pete is survived by his wife of 51 years of marriage; Janie Overby Joyce of the home. One son; Sammy (Cindy) Joyce of Westfield. Two granddaughters: Ashley Joyce (Kevin) Kilby and Haley Elizabeth Joyce. One sister; Mozelle Woods of Mt. Airy and one brother; Sonny (Alene) Joyce of Pfafftown. One sister-in-law; Hazel Joyce of Mt. Airy. Several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Pete will be held Saturday afternoon, January 21, 2012 at 3:00 P.M. at Asbury Presbyterian Church in Westfield by Rev. Terry Collins. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Saturday 21st from 1:00 P.M. until time of the funeral service. Memorials may be made to the Asbury Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund, P.O.
