Sammy Claborn Wood

Mr. Sammy Claborn Wood, age 74 of Tobaccoville passed away Sunday, July 7, 2013 at his home. Mr. Wood was born August 16, 1938 in Henry County, VA to Carl Brascomb and Mary Irene Hubbard Wood. He was a member of Woodland Baptist Church in Winston-Salem and a retired truck driver. In addition to his parents Mr. Wood was preceded in death by one sister and one brother. Mr. Wood is survived by his wife of 52 years, Wanda Sale Wood of the home. One daughter, Tamara (Michael) Watts and one son, Samuel (Lynda) Wood. Four grandsons; Matthew, David, Justin and John. One great-grandson, Jax. Two sisters and five brothers. Several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Wood will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home Chapel in Rural Hall by Rev. Leon Wood and Rev. Vic Pyles. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Winston-Salem. The family will receive friends at Hayworth-Miller from 11:30 AM until time of the funeral service Wednesday, July 10th .
