Samantha Suzanne Hege

Samantha Suzanne Hege, 21, of Winston-Salem died Saturday, June 27, 2009 at her home. She was born February 9, 1988 in Winston-Salem to Keith Jerome and Debra Coon Hege. Samantha was a 2006 graduate of R. J. Reynolds High School where she was a member of the band and swim team. She was currently attending Wake Forest University where she was a member of SOTOGAB, the marching band. She was a volunteer at Ronald McDonald House where they adopted her as her second family. She was preceded in death by her father and her maternal grandparents, Allen and Barbara Coon. Survivors include her mother of the home; one brother, Nicholas Hege of the home; two sisters, Sydney Hege of the home and Angela Corns of Pilot Mt.; her paternal grandfather, George Hege and wife, Delma of Ronda; her paternal grandmother, Kay Smith of Lewisville; two uncles, Barry Hege and wife, Laura of Dobson and Kevin Hege and wife, Susan of Lewisville; one aunt, Scarlette Hege of Charlotte; two cousins, Benjamin Hege and Quintin Hege of Dobson and several other cousins, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Parkway. A memorial service will be conducted Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at Wait Chapel on the campus of Wake Forest University with Rev. Tim Auman officiating. There will be a private graveside service at Dobson City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Ronald McDonald House of Winston-Salem, 419 S. Hawthorne Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family would like to thank the Doctors, nurses and staff of the Comprehensive Cancer Center and Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center for their love and care during Samantha's illness.
