Sam Gray Hardister III

Mr. Sam Gray Hardister III, 68, of Clemmons, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015.
Sam was born July 28, 1946 to Sam Gray Hardister, Jr. and Dorothy Kates Hardister. He was a proud Eagle Scout and graduate of North Forsyth High School. After high school, he attended High Point College and served for six years in the 312th US Army Reserves. On January 4, 1969, he married the love of his life, Patricia Holleman Hardister. Sam worked as a Certified Public Accountant, and outside of work enjoyed trips to the mountains, fishing and taking pictures. He was a charter member of Unity Moravian Church, as well as a member of Fairview Moravian Church. He served as a member of the Lewisville Planning Committee and was a member of the Sertoma Club of Winston-Salem. Sam also enjoyed the monthly meetings of the Hanes Group. Sam will be lovingly remembered as a compassionate soul, who loved to talk and never met a stranger. Sam was preceded in death by his mother. Sam is survived by his wife, Patricia Holleman Hardister, of the home; father, Sam Hardister, Jr.; daughters, Jennifer Angel and husband Jeremy, of Franklin, NC and Amy Hardister of Mocksville; grandchildren, Phillip Angel and Hannah Angel; brothers, Toby Hardister and wife Rhonda, of Clemmons and Steven Hardister of Roanoake, VA; best friends, Patsy and Larry Lanier; godchildren, Chad Lanier and Greg Lanier; and a niece and nephews. A celebration of Sam's life will be held Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 1 pm at Fairview Moravian Church. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service in the church parlor. A private family burial will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Boy Scouts of America, Old Hickory Council, 660 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27106 or the National Kidney Foundation, Finance Department, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, New York, 10016.
