Mr. Sam Alexander,75, died January 14,2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born January 25,1934, in Surry County, a son of Jesse F. and Maggie Harpe Alexander. Mr. Alexander was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, retired from Reynolds Tobacco Co. and served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Larry Neil Alexander. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Rhyne Alexander; sons, Terry G. Alexander (Cinda), and David R. Alexander; grandchildren, Meredith Alexander and Elizabeth Alexander; sisters, Linda Dake, Cora Wilmoth(R.D.), Shirley Phillips; brothers, Fred Alexander (Ola), Joe Alexander (Janie), Frank Alexander (Lynne), George Alexander (Carolyn) and Philip Alexander. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Byrum officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. Visitation for family and friends will be from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm at the church . ""Papa"" Sam Alexander was a man with unmatched wit that never failed to bring a smile to the faces of his family and friends. His granddaughters will always remember his deep laughter and mischievous smile. Papa Sam's unwavering commitment to his family served as a leading example for his girls of what a Godly husband, father , and grandfather should be. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
