Mr. S. Ray Wheeler, age 85 of Lewisville, passed away Friday, September 6, 2024, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born August 11,1939, in Forsyth County to the late Allison Lee Wheeler and Annie Jarvis Wheeler. He graduated from James A. Gray High School. Mr. Wheeler was a machinist/tool and die maker for over 50 years. He worked at Southern Tool Manufacturing and Continental Can before retiring from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company with 30 years of service. During his lifetime he enjoyed the outdoors and numerous hobbies which included fishing, mountain biking, stamp collecting and his mastered gardening skills. His love of fishing started at an early age, and he thrived at creating all types of fishing lures including the art of fly tying. His craftsmanship and attention to detail can be seen throughout his home and garden. He was a hardworking and devoted family man. He is preceded in death by his son, Rodney Wheeler and two sisters, Sylvia Jones and Rita Harper. Surviving is his wife of 62 years, Ruth S. Wheeler, and one daughter, Robin Buchanan (Willie). A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens by Rev. John Jackman. The family will receive friends following the service.
