Ruthann Sabon

Ruthann L.  Sabon, 76, passed away Tuesday morning, January 31, 2023, into the arms of the Lord. Born on November 28th 1946, in Bronx NY, she was the daughter of the late George R. and Ruth M. (Haas) Hixon.  She graduated in June 1964 from William Howard Taft High School. Ruthann was a Quality Manager for many years in the air cargo business. She was also a member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church with her sister, Cathy, and was also an active member of St. Theresa's Guilt. Upon her first battle with Breast Cancer diagnosis, she became involved in a leadership role with running the program Feel Good Friday at the Novant Cancer Center with her daughter. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, cousin, and aunt. Her Great Granddaughter Sophia Isabelle was born in 2021 and was the apple of her eye. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ruth Hixon. Survivors include her husband, Charles, who they shared 57 wonderful years together; their children, Ruthann Sabon-Blackmer and her husband, William, of Argyle NY, Suzanne Schweitzer and her children, Daniel Schweitzer, of Winston-Salem, NC, and Mariah Mishue and her husband, Trey; great granddaughter, Sophia of Clemmons, NC; sister, Cathy Palazzo; niece, Mary Palazzo of Thomasville, NC; brother, George Hixon and his wife, Letty, of Stormville, NY; sister, Laura Van Amburgh and her husband, George, of Poughkeepsie, NY; cousin, Jerry Di Muro of Bonners Ferry, ID; and many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends. A visitation will be held for Ruthann on February 2, 2023, from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
