Ruth May Westmoreland Leonard

Ruth May Leonard, 68 went home to be with her lord and savior on Monday June 5th, 2023 after a long battle with her health. Ruth, a kind and loving mother had two son’s James Spaugh Jr. (wife Shannon) and Wayne Gaither. Her heart also loved three step children as her own, Ronnie Gaither, Jamie Gaither, and Gene Gaither. 

   

Ruth was very proud of her family, and loved them very much. Ruth was one of six children born to parents Mary Marshall and JC Westmoreland. (Both proceeded in death) She had four brothers, Calvin Westmoreland (proceeded in death), Randy Westmoreland (proceeded in death), Alvin Westmoreland, Ricky Westmoreland (wife Cindy). Ruth had one sister Debbie Lane. Ruth’s grandchildren were, Samantha Hopson, Justin Spaugh (wife Olivia), Kristyn Spaugh, Kristina Pilgrim, Lee Pilgrim (wife Lydia), Damion Gaither, and CJ Gaither. Ruth also loved and adored many nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren. Ruth loved a very special daughter in law ,Tabitha Godfrey who proceeded her in death

 

 Ruth in her younger years loved going to the beach with her family. Ruth was always thinking of others, and enjoyed shopping for great deals to give to her loved ones. Ruth also enjoyed sharing stories with her grandchildren of precious moments from when they were younger. 

   

Ruth was proud to be a member of Lexwin Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Friday June 9th, 2023 at Hayworth Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Pkwy between the hours of 8:30 Am until 9:30 Am. Funeral services officiated by Pastor Erick Goff to follow at Parklawn Cemetery on Peters Creek Pkwy at 10:00 Am
