Mrs. Ruth Thomas Spach, 100, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2018
at Brighton Gardens. Ruth was born on February 20, 1917 in Forsyth County, the daughter of the late Sarah May Thomas. Ruth retired from Hanes Knitwear with 47 years of service. She was a lifelong member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church and served on various UMW committees at Pine Grove. She was happiest when she and her husband Roy were fishing at Emerald Isle or taking care of their vegetable garden. Ruth's canned beets were always a hit at the Pine Grove annual bazaar. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 76 years, Roy L. Spach. Ruth is survived by her son, R.L. Spach, Jr. and his wife Cindy; granddaughters, Shannon Leigh Preston and husband Roger, and Ashley Jane Pearson and husband Bill; great-grandsons, Austin Kisner, Ethan Preston and Brody Pearson; sisters-in-law, Lib Smith, Avis Spach, and Annie Spach; and many loving nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:00 Noon on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Pine Grove United Methodist Church. A private service will follow the visitation, with Rev. Marilyn Weiler officiating.
