SOARD RURAL HALL, Ruth Jettimae Bullock Soard was humbly born at home via midwife on November 23, 1936 the daughter of Delmer and Lorena Inabnitt Bullock in Public, Kentucky. She was the eldest of three children. In the quiet morning of February 20, 2009 she lost her 10 month battle with lung cancer surrounded by her daughters and longtime friend Gaynell Hill. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter's Father Harry ""Harvey"" Richard Soard; her brother Ralph Lawrence Bullock; and her great-niece Ashley Paige Bullock. She was devoted to her family and friends and always put others before herself. Her selflessness will be missed and remembered forever. She was the greatest Mom to her daughters, doting Nannie to her grandchildren and confidant to her family and friends. Ms. Soard was a wonderful cook, an avid fan of ACC Basketball especially the Duke University Blue Devils and also loved to read romance novels and autobiographies. Ms Soard was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stanleyville. Surviving are her three daughters Terri Soard Warf and husband Russell; Kathy Soard Stephenson and husband Mark; Jackie Soard Frazier and husband Randy; seven grandchildren, Lindley Warf, Faith Frazier, Allison Wood, Ryan Stephenson, Kendall Warf, Bryce Stephenson and Brooklyn Frazier; one sister Phyllis Bullock and husband Jim of Somerset, KY, a sister-in-law Donna Bullock of Somerset, KY. Several nieces and nephews; and a life-time friend Delphia Bralley and wonderful neighbors. A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday, February 23, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Stanleyville Cemetery with Pastor Eddie Honeycutt and Rev. Terry Rausch officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Stanleyville 851 Ziglar Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27105 or to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Ln. Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the doctors and staff of the Derrick L. Davis Cancer Center and to Hospice & Palliative Care in Winston-Salem. Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall is assisting the Soard family.
