Mrs. Ruth Monroe Branon Settle, age 94, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2015 at The Brian Center in Lexington. Ruth was the daughter of the late Charles Monroe and Maggie Cumbie Branon, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter James Settle, and her sister, Hope Branon Smith. Ruth was a graduate of South High School and a 1981 retiree of Western Electric Company/AT&T, where she retired after many faithful years of service. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her daughter, Merle S. Lambeth, and husband, Max and her granddaughter, Allison L. Moore and husband, Paten, as well as her four great-grandchildren, Jordan, Devin, Kayla, and Grayson Moore and her brother-in-law, S.V. Smith, as well as numerous nephews and nieces. The family would like to thank the nursing and CNA staff at The Brian Center in Lexington for the excellent care they gave to Ruth during her last years of life. A graveside service will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 1:00 pm, with Rev. Kevin Conley officiating.
