Ruth Speas Robertson, 88, of Rural Hall, North Carolina, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, June 13, 2015. Ruth was born in Rural Hall, NC on October 18, 1926 to the late Everett Eugene Speas and Maude Kapp Speas. She was a committed Christian and loved her church family. She was an active and devoted member of Mizpah Moravian Church where she worshipped. Her life was a testimony to her faith and her love of the Lord. Her commitment to family extended to her own family as well. Ruth grew up in a large family and it was important to continue the tradition of regular family gatherings that her mother and father had started. She ensured that the extended family gathered regularly for food and fellowship. She was a welcoming host and all who gathered at her home felt her love. She was an avid reader and loved to garden. Her home was always adorned with beautiful flowers. After Ruth's husband passed away, she became actively involved in King Outreach Ministry where she volunteered several days a week assisting those in need. Ruth was married to C. E Robertson, Jr., her soul mate, on April 7, 1947. They met at one of Ruth's basketball games and it was love at first sight! They were married for 37 wonderful years before he passed away. Ruth worked at R.J. Reynolds for several years and then became a stay at home mom. Ruth is survived by her sister, Jane Hutchens; her daughter, Linda Robertson Edwards (married to Fred. H. Edwards); her son, Dan E. Robertson (married to Susan G. Robertson); her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly: Anna (married to John Choquette), Luke and Ben; and a multitude of nieces and nephews. Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, C. E. Robertson, Jr.; five brothers: Vestal, Eugene, Laverne, Ken and Dan; and two sisters, Virginia Speas Joyce and Viola Speas Rowe. The funeral service will be held at Mizpah Moravian Church on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 11:00AM, with Pastor John Rainey officiating. A graveside service will follow. A celebration of Ruth's life will be held immediately following the graveside service in the church fellowship hall. There will be no formal visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Mizpah Moravian Church Building Fund or King Outreach Ministry, PO Box 1450, King, NC 27021. ( Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel)
