Mrs. Ruth Earleen Rierson, 87, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 20, 2024. She was born on August 26, 1936, in Forsyth County, NC, to the late Horace Early Rierson and Mary Russell Rierson.
Earleen developed a love of music early in life, and in her teens, she enjoyed singing in a trio formed with her sister, Betty, and a close friend. Her love for music continued throughout her life, especially her love for gospel music. Another passion of hers was gardening. She created many flower beds and other beautiful features in her yard, and spent as much time as she could working in them.
Her early working career was spent in the insurance industry, later in banking, from which she would retire. Upon retirement, she spent much of her time, along with her sister Betty, taking care of their mother. After the passing of their mother, Earleen was able to enjoy day trips and trips to the coast with some of her sisters. As her sister Betty’s health deteriorated, Earleen became her care giver until Betty’s passing in September of 2023.
While her later years were spent caring for others, she never complained, but instead maintained a positive outlook and drew great strength from her faith, attending church as much as she could, and also from her church family at First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
In addition to her parents, Earleen was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Rierson; sisters, Mildred Robertson, Helen Rierson, Rebecca Whitner, Peggy Logan, and Betty Rierson. Those left to cherish her memory include her brother, David (Pat) Rierson of Lewisville, NC; as well as a host of special nieces, nephews, and friends.
A celebration of Earleen’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at 2:00PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Tim Wolfe officiating. The family will receive friends a half hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Trellis Palliative and Hospice Care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Earleen’s name to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103, or to a charity of your choosing.
