Ruth High Pettit

Mrs. Ruth High Pettit, 93, of Winston-Salem, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2008 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born September 24, 1915 in Spartanburg County, SC to Horace and Alma Correll High. Mrs. Pettit was formerly a member of Westview Baptist Church for many years and now a member of Eatons Baptist Church in Mocksville. She was retired from Wake Forest University with 20 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, the Rev. William E. Pettit. Surviving are three children, Malcolm E. Pettit and wife Sue, Malene Scheer and husband Dennis, and Marshall Pettit; three grandchildren, Angela, Nicholas, and Brett Scheer; and a brother, Eugene High of Spartanburg, SC. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 15th at Eatons Baptist Church with the Rev. David Gilbreath officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
