Ruth Wyrick Morris

Walkertown- Ruth Vedia Morris, 92, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, May 18, 2016. She was born in West Jefferson on September 30, 1923, to the late Everett and Dora Wyrick. Mrs. Morris was a devoted follower of God, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed.

Ruth was always true to her word, openly honest with her opinions (and she had plenty), and unwavering on her beliefs. If she told you she was going to do something, consider it done. Ruth was a strong, brave, devoted and proud woman…qualities now cherished and appreciated by those who knew her. Ruth retired from Stone's Restaurant and Marie's Restaurant. Walkertown and Camp Betty Hastings Road won't be the same without her.

Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by her husband, Skeeze; both parents; 2 sisters, Pruett and Grace; a brother Jim; brother-in-law Harry and his wife, Winnie Faye.
She is survived by her two children, J.O. Morris (wife Carolyn), daughter Susie Holloway (husband Al); two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Polly Parrish and Margaret Wyrick.

A graveside service will be held at 2pm on Monday, May 23, 2016 at the Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Sunday evening at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Diane Lindley, FMC ER, and staff, and The Danby House, and an extra special thanks to, Eddie and Darlene Smith, for your physical and emotional support during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Kate B Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
