Mrs. Ruth Parker Kressin, 85,of Winston-Salem, passed away February 21, 2010 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born January 6, 1925 in Pitt County to Jesse and Gladys Thompson Parker. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of The Epiphany and former active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Greenbelt, MD. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, an avid Bridge player and enjoyed gardening. Mrs. Kressin received a Masters of Science in Home Economics from UNCG and taught Home Economics to High School and College students at the University of Maryland. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert H. Kressin; four brothers, Robert Parker, Byron Parker, Paul Parker and Richard Parker; a sister, Mary (Parker) Lewis. Surviving her are two daughters, Nancy Kressin and husband John Derbort of Boston, MA, Gloria Muday and husband Jeff of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren, Jordan Derbort, Jeremy and Evan Muday; two brothers, Alan and David Parker and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 2:00PM Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Lutheran Church of The Epiphany with Rev. Laura Wind officiating.
