Winston-SalemMrs. Ruth Runge Johnston, 79, passed away Friday, October 29, 2010 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born August 22, 1931 in Cook County, Illinois to the late Harry Lawrence and Ruth Robrahn Runge. Mrs. Johnston was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Epiphany. She was educated in Cook County, Illinois. Mrs. Johnston worked as a Registered Nurse in Illinois, New York, New Jersey and North Carolina. She retired from Wake Forest University Physicians as a Registered Nurse. Preceding her in death was her husband, Robert Douglas Johnston. Surviving are a daughter, Susan Lynn Kraft and husband Chuck of Lewisville; two sons, Steve Johnston and wife Leonore of Hillsborough, NJ and Phil Johnston of Greensboro; six grandchildren, Rachael Johnston, Devin Johnston, Matthew Johnston, Christina Kraft, Scott Johnston, and Chad Kraft; also surviving is a sister, Jean Chapman of Berwin, Illinois; sister-in-law, Shirley Gunn and two brothers-in-law, Dave Gunn and Glenn Baker. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, November 6, 2010 at the Lutheran Church of the Epiphany with Rev. Ray Mohrmann and Rev. Laura Wind officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Lutheran Church of the Epiphany, 5220 Silas Creek Parkway Winston-Salem, NC 27106. On line condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com
