Mrs. Ruth Byrd Johnson 77, of Winston-Salem died Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mrs. Johnson was born August 30, 1932 in Wilkes County, a daughter of the late Iven Byrd and the late Elsie Wiles Byrd. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edd Johnson in 2009, brothers, Larry Byrd and Tom Byrd. She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Johnson and wife Betty of Randleman, grandchildren, Jeffrey Alan Johnson and wife Stephanie of Johnson City, TN, and Tabitha Paige Johnson of Randleman, great-grandson, Shepherd Logan Johnson, sisters, Lola Dancy of Kernersville, and Ellen Roope of Newark, DE., brothers, Lawrence Byrd and William Byrd both of North Wilkesboro. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Erick Goff and Rev. Wayne Osbourne officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6:30-8:30 Friday at the funeral home.
